I was wondering if anyone could fill me in on the different chess styles and some of the grandmasters that have those styles. I understand that there are positional and tactical styles, but I was wondering if there are any more.
Universal style eg Anand...
at one end of the spectrum you have Ulf Andersson on the other side you have Alexei Shirov. how you classify/label everything in between is up to you.
How do you classify/label everything.
Like a wise man once said "Duh Winning" (Charlie sheen)....thats the style all should strive for....!!!!no pun intended
ulfish, ulfal, shirulf, shirovish
Can you explain?
Someone answer the question!!
Bobby Fisher==Queen vs King end game
You guys are funny
Here's four for you: - the classical practiced by Steinitz, Tarrasch and Capablanca; the hypermodern practiced by Nimzovitch and Gruefeld; the dynamists (blending classical and hypermodern particularly in the King's Indian Defence) practiced by Bronstein, Kasparov and Korchnoi; and the modern practiced by Fisscher and Karpov.
The classicists believe in occupying the centre with pawns, the hypermoderns believe that their opponents centre is a good target for them, the dynamists believe you must blend both ideas and the moderns think all the other ideas are good and none is paramount.
Or you can be Tal.
I appreciate your comment, johnyoudell.
