The inside story of Team Romania

    Muscalu

Hello kids, I have a story for you.

It's the story of a gladiator nicknamed Muscalu. Muscalu is a chess enthusiast, he likes chess and especially practice on chess.com . As muscalu was preparing to play in world league for his team, he got kicked out by a dictator: Romana Chisu. The reason was because Muscalu did not give his support to unban a member of his team. That member was caught cheating by the chess.com executives and banned from playing. As Romana Chisu began protests all over chess.com to unban that player caught cheating, muscalu let others know that even if the banned was from our own team, had a very high rating (2600), he still cheated, friend or not he has to learn his lesson and restore justice.

But as Romana Chisu saw what Muscalu was doing, she immediately kicked him out of the team. Currently, Muscalu is a saddened, but with your help perhaps he can become and admin of the team. He honest and very kind, he is a very good team motivator and has good sportsmanship, can win the impossible but also accept defeat and congratulate his opponent.

ps- for inclarities, Romana chisu is currenlty playing for team romania and also an admin of team romania, it is she who kicked me out because unlike others that were protesting to unban the ''cheater'' I was not helping the cause

Ladies and Gentlement, for a spot in the leadership of the team (to be an admin and guide romanians) and of course be back in that team! (because I am currently banned), I will do almost anything! May I have a matchup against any Romanian - Bring me the best one - and if I win then put me in an administrative position, I believe romanians need an excellent and dedicated coach to help them and guide them.

Romanians wake up! Romana Chisu, I challenge whoever the best you have, and If I win one game or Overall, then may I take your place and guide romanians to victory!

Saying your friend (Mr. Nice Guy) is sorry doesn't cut it.  He should be banned for 5 years.  He should get an appeal in five years.  Calling others dictators doesn't help you or your friend's cause.  Problem is the world does not care about stuff like this.  People don't want to trust a cheater.  There are winners and losers.  Losers line up on the wrong side and become outsiders.  Some people lined up on the wrong side with Adolph Hitler.  They guessed wrong.  The Nazis lost.  So, let us keep Chess.com non-political.  There are people doing 20 years to life in prison because they made a mistake.  They wouldn't do it again but it is too late.  A justice system protects society.  Those who run this website have to protect the ordinary folk (like myself) who come to play chess here.  Perhaps, as I said, cheaters should be banned for five years.  Some would get a second chance, and some would have moved on.  Like the song says, "You don't know what you've got 'till it's gone".

I got a kick out of this one.  The Petition for MirceaH was a really stupid forum, but was really funny.  It is sad that a good guy like you would be kicked out of a group for standing up for erik and chess.com.  Maybe they can do something about it.

Mike & the Mechanics?  "You never know what you've got 'til it's gone".  What a great song!  But anyway, it does sound like this fellow should not have been kicked off the team, nor should he need to slay Goliath to be restored.  Whatever rules apply to membership for others should apply for membership for this fellow too.  Fair is fair.  And by the way, lest somebody offer that sage advice that life is not fair, I offer this conditional move in response.  Grow up.  It is true that life is not always fair, but it is non sequitur that from this we can justify further instances of bias, or anything short of fairness.  When we can make it fair, we should make it fair, without appeal to other injustices.

I sincerely believe that I have the potential to beat or at least draw la creme de la creme of the Romanian team. I have challenged the currently highest rated for 2 games black and white both 3 day long but he he still didint accept. Id like Romana Chisu replaced too. Also Id be happy to join a british team like Whales or england ,I really respect british culture.

Right now my team (USA: Northwest) is getting whipped by Team Romania in a friendly match, regardless of the two points we got when MirceaH timed out after being banned.  The score is 49-27, with 49 players per team (meaning that they've guaranteed at least a draw, although it's highly unlikely that we'll be able to catch up without any of us allowing at least a draw).  I heard rumors that Team Romania was banning people, or not allowing them to join, for various reasons, such as preventing people rated lower from 1400 joining, but those are just RUMORS.

That being said, my opponent in the aforementioned TR match (Danoit) has displayed nothing but the best sportsmanship, starting with the greeting "good luck" at the beginning of our first game and continuing by being gracious after I collected the full point with the black pieces in game 1 (he should be on my Best Win stat, but Paddee timed out against me while rated over 2100-and he was up an exchange and a pawn while I had no compensation).  He has since accepted the only friend request I've sent in my Chess.com career, which dates back to Jan. 2008.

OK, let's make all the things clear. Additional details you can find in this topic:

    http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/world-league---wrong-things

which for some reason was closed by erik.

So, a month ago I reported a cheater (Mirceah), and the guy was subsequently banned. As a result, team Romania also excluded me and also started a campaign against me, repeatedly reporting me for imaginary abuses. Now it is clear what they really want to do: they make up a pressure group such that chess.com to be forced to reinstate the account of the cheater. In order to do this, they exclude from the team all those who do not agree with this idea.

What somebody above said is true. Team Romania ussually excludes people with a rating smaller than 1400 or those who do not play for the team (as it was my case, I did not have the time in 3 weeks to play any game for the team). Again, I do not understand why a team from world league is allowed to set up its own rules, simply ignoring the official rules of this friendly competition.

I do not understand why chess.com had to grant the team admins the right of excluding someone from their team. This applies for all the admins of all groups. I think it is a very rude thing and a powerful weapon for pursuing personal revenges. I imagine if, each national team would make such problems, then the staff of chess.com will spend their entire time with such kiddish issues.

Well, I think there are plenty of nice groups at chess.com

No need to focus on this one: this is a big world Cool

    Dudes,

Get over it. First, I'd like to say that I don't always agree with things going on in Team Romania, I was against the whole petition idea and against banning costelus. But, there are some misleading inaccuracies in your reasoning:

    1. Muscalu was not banned for supporting erik and chess.com, he was banned because he made an incredibly offending post in the Team Romania forums. If you don't believe me, let me know and I'll be happy to post it here and translate it for you.

    2. Team Romania is not kicking members under 1400. There are 4 of 5 criteria for being a member: stuff like having a certain percentage of wins, a certain rating, playing a certain number of games for the team and having a certain timeout ratio, if I recall correctly. The thing is, you don't have to fulfill all of the above criteria, but only 2 or 3 out of 5. Believe me , for any player who is mildly interested in playing for this team, these criteria should not be a problem.

In conclusion, there are some things which are not perfect in Team Romania (for example, the whole petition issue) but let's not exaggerate and turn this topic in to another opportunity for making fools of ourselves, because we have shown ourselves to be quite capable of doing that and I don't think anybody needs another example :)

    All the best,

    Alex

Hm, I was not aware of these rules you posted.Thank you for posting them. I think the staff should clarify, indeed, as the extra rules imposed in Team Romania really seem like a good idea for me and not to forceful at the same time...

We are looking into this situation. The intent of the rules is to let anyone play that wants to play. Tunatin's interpertation is correct.
