The Olympics is bad for Wales

I love to play chess everywhere.  I find the frisson of added excitement from playing somewhere new almost palpable.

Mrs Beast and I like to push the chess playing boundaries we have played in every room in the house (even the pantry and space is severely restricted in there - try countering the Sicilian, Najdorf variation with an incipient cramping metatarsal), the car (but only on the Motorway, we're not irresponsible!), the garden (I love an audience) and in many spontaneous outdoor locations.

The thrill of new logistical chess playing challenges drives me to innovation in our great game.

I was recently trialling my new inflatable board (patent pending) at the Mycynlllyth Municipal Lido when the Welsh Olympic 'fly squad came straight through my lane leaving me and Mrs Beast in flagrante delicto with a badly compromised passed pawn.

I was livid.  Not only had our game been ruined but I had developed a verruca on my tongue and I had lost my Seiko 719 in the bilge pump.

Has anyone else experienced similar unfortunate chess inventing brouhahas?

Mycynlllyth Municipal Lido? Where's that? You sure you haven't got that confused with the harbour at Aberdyfi?

I'd quite like some inflatable pieces. Will you be developing any to go with your inflatable board?

You should have made a strategic withdrawal.
