The Seventh Seal

Does anyone have the PGN for the game of chess played against death? If yes, share it!

FN_Perfect_Idiot

Woeful film and massively overrated. I believe the game wasn't even possible.

Yeah, another exercise in Ingmar Bergman dreariness.  Like I said about that flick on criticker.com:

Bergman would be better (and a lot easier to take) if he didn't have--in literally every single film--a scene where somebody or other drones on about the meaninglessness of life. In exactly those terms.

Even if the film isn't good, I still want to view the PGN.

Well, this guy claims to analyze the thing (as best he can):

I was hoping to get a real game with a few "gaps" based on the board showed in different scenes. Seems there wasn't one game played though.

fabelhaft

A timeless classic and one of the best films ever made. Wild Strawberries is even better.

gaereagdag

Wasn't there a film called Puf.N/Stuf?

Bergman did better than that.

(Caveat : if you haven't seen the film yet, you need first to look at the original scene : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtqB2XO9jtI)

No really, chess is only a pretext in that film.

(It's true that Bergman's films are a bit weird, but good though)

And I thought this topic was about the Demi Moore movie.

The subtitles were incorrect.

That's the whole idea. The guy butchered the original soundtrack of the same scene and mistranslated on purpose.

Obviously, when it's a language you can speak, it loses a lot of strength... To non-Swedish speakers the translations seem plausible (the length of sentences is kept).

Ingmar Bergman by and large sucks.

Obvious troll baiting is obvious.

Dismissing opinions by pat declarations is obvious.

Yes, I had a feeling you'd love Ingmar, Sharon...no doubt he's Derrida's favorite "poet of the cinema." Laughing

Does kind of make you wonder though what would've happened if Bergman and Spelling had ever joined forces for some co-productions.  Like The Mod God-Is-Dead Squad, for example.  Or Charlie's Fallen Angels.

Seventh Seal was not a good one from him, but Winter Light, Virgin Spring, Persona? Those were great! Of course not as great as ...TVLaughing
