What a struggle.  I felt both sides played strongly the entire game. The only thing I wonder is what could I have done better.  I feel like I've reached a platue in my chess playing ability, and small details are where I need to improve the most.

The opening aside as I try to exit the book as soon as I can.  How did I play the middle and endgame?  Did my opponent also play well in your opinions?

In looking over the game where do you see the biggest lacking in my overall game.  Where can I improve?

I would agree.  When I find tactical situations I seem to thrive and do good with force.  However, in more positional games, which led to endgame with material equality I can tend toward being overly defensive.

Can you explain your thought in more detail.  I'd like to know where I was way to passive in this game and where I could have played different moves which were more forceful.

Thanks

14. gxf3 "I was upset at myself here. Looking over the game I missed a nice tactic with Ba4+ winning his bishop"

Do you mean recapturing the bishop without doubling your pawns? Because you take the bishop anyway.

Did black just miss 33. ... Bxf2 or do you have something that punishes that?

What were you planning on 38. Kh6? Do you have better than repeating moves?

Yes.. Exactly that is what I meant

Well you I think are good enough to see that would have been the best move.  I don't see anything that would punish that move.

I think you mean 36...Kh6.

Do I have anything better than repeating moves here?

Perhaps Qc4 is better as black has a nice tactic with QxR+ and then RxB+ with an easy endgame to win

After 6..Bg4??, you can win a piece. 7 Nxe5, 7..dxe5, 8 Qxg4.

If the bishop takes the queen, then there is mate on f7.

If black takes the rook he gets mated on the next move.

"26. Qc7 I felt with my control of the queenside it was in my best interest to trade queens"

Had you controled the kingside, would you have offered to trade kings? Laughing

Very good game, by the way.

I miss a lot of things. :-)

36. ... Kh6 was played in the game. Then 37. Qc1+ Kg7 38. Qc7 repeating the position at move 36. Here black deviates from the repitition with 38. ... Kh8. My question was if black didn't deviate from previous, were you planning on deviating or was repeating moves for a draw best.

DRAW.  Yes because I didn't see a way to break through...and looking at in on the computer yesterday.  He was indeed winning

Fantastic! I'm sure I would have seen this in a longer game.  Great find and awesome move.
