What is a timeout ratio and why is mine so high?
How could I bring this down and get into more tournaments?
TheGrobe
Timeouts occur when you fail to make a move in your allotted time and you lose the game as a result. Your 32% timeout ration is the result of your timing out in seven of your 22 games here.
In order to bring it down, you'll need to play and complete a number of games. To get it down to 10%, for example, you'll need to play 48 more games without timing out at which point you will have timed out on seven of 70 games. Doing so should allow you to enter more tournaments.
Ok, thank you so much TheGrobe! I got extremely busy with school a while ago and let chess slip out of my sphere of importance. Thus I racked up all of those timeouts; I have a bunch of work ahead of myself apparently...
Thank goodness they modified the policy on this to the last 90 days!

Yea, really!
Mine would still be over 50% from last year! So easy to forget

Incredible!! if I was to flip a coin, still not as good as yours.
How did this thread come back after all this time?
I have a strange way of stumbling across outdated threads on the internet
One word of warning: don't enter too many tournaments.

What is the timeout policy or where would I find it?
*edit* Never mind, I found it after a quick search: http://support.chess.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/96

I played in a turnament where the host posted like 30 or so turnaments and then disappeared. Conciquently he lost about 200 games.
It can be overwhelming.
Agreed. :)
