I dont know,  if this will work or not,  but it is a idea of mine.

I know a lot off you would a like Tournaments. So here is one way we can arrange one.

Chess.com league.

League One  For 1800 or over players  And League two under 1800 players and League three  for under 1500 players   With players has to be under the rating at the start of the Tournament

Now the interessting part.  you get 3 points for a win  and 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss.   This is to prevent quick draws.   The Top 2 in each league advances  up a league and the 4 below the top 2 advances to play off finals, and the bottom 3 goes down a league.

Each player, plays 2 games  1 white, and 1 black against all in the league's You are in.

I will keek you all updated in my Blog Named Chess.com Chess League.

With League Table Positions and fixutures and results.

Just an Idea.

Now tell me,  what you think

No. 1 point win, 1/2 draw and 0 point loss is far better. What's wrong with a draw anyway?

Erm Bigboy, this sounds just like the English football league. 3 points for a win, play offs, etc... Personally i don't agree with play offs. Why should the team that finishes sixth get the same chance of promotion than the team that finishes third? A better system would be the team that finishes second from bottom in division 1 play the team that finishes second in division 2. That way one team as a chance of staying up, thus avoiding relegation and the other team simply gets promoted.

Yes You are right about the football league. and I like your play off idea too so much i would go for that.

The idea of having a tourney is cool, what will the time frame be, 1 day, 3 days?  How many people in a league? When are you thinking of starting?

The Tourney will Start if there is enough Interested in each League  There can be 1 day time  Leagues and 3 days time leagues say 22 players in each league.

All those interested just post here which time limit league you would like to be in.

It's still a cool idea, but could take a lifetime to finish if 22 players in each league.  Surely a tourney is better as a knockout system?

how do you find that?

Another Tounament Idea also is a Champions League

This idea is for them that cannot cope with two many Games at 1 time.

You Can Join a Ladder Scheme

Where you start in a League and you challenge the Person who is within 5 places above you. if you win. You move above him by 1 place

if You lose you stay where you are.

Place posistion is by Rating to start with.

Too many Timeouts Gets you thrown out of the Leagues Unless a very good reason.

You can avoid Timesouts by using your Going on holiday option. 30 days I believe

I declare Tongo the champion.  Congratulations.

I do applaud the effort bigboy. Tournaments would be fun. Somehow there is a lack of appeal when it seems like something that is just thrown together like that, even if it is thrown together with a great deal of effort. Seems that unless it comes from Chess.com, not a lot of people will bother with it.

Myself, I'm not sure I have much use for tournaments no matter where they come from. But it would be fun to see tourneys with some of the higher rated players. They could duke it out for chess.com bragging rights, or maybe Erik will throw in an official Chess.com T-shirt, or pajamas or something.

I might even play myself for some labeled woolly socks.
