his move g4 allowed you to come into his position, it is not a sacrifice btw, only a trade, and his try at mate cost him the queen with the open king there and your active rook, and your endgame you could have moved your king up, don't get sloppy and lose pawns, use your king, with a white bishop there is no reason to lose the f6 pawn or the h6 pawn

Didn't feel like you had enough compensation for the material. I wouldn't have done the sac.

But this was a blunder game.

    I think 23. Kh3 was innacurate, maybe 23. Bxh6  Ne8+ (23. ... gxh6? 24.Qxh6+ Kg8 25. Qh7#) 24. Kg3 Nxd3 25. Bg5+ and it should be a matter of technique for white to win.

    25. Qg6?? was a big blunder that lost the queen. After 25. f3 Rf6, white has the material advantage but awkwardly placed pieces, thus the position seems unclear.

Kingforce, I believe he's referring to the sacrifice Queen for Rook + knight.

Btw, general chess education: rook is a major piece, not a minor piece.

I know, but if you look at the position he had to guard the bishop, so Qe8, right which don't you think is a little passive, please tell me what you think you would have done, at any point in time, from move 16, i think he would have been crushed if he played that

That shows, though, that 15... dxe4?! was wrong. You could smell it, though. The bigger problem is the bishop at d7, that prevents replies like 17... Ne3.

16... Qe8 is not entirely passive since the knight is attacked. After 16... Qe8 17. Nxd7 (17. Nd3 Rd8 seems to relieve some of the pressure) 17... Qxd7 18. Be3 white stands better, and 18... Rhd8? is not possible because it hangs the knight.

You have a point, but white seems better either way. So his decision is ok, but the former 15... dxe4?! is clearly wrong.

    I think 25.f4 would be very strong, probably winning. E.g. 25...Bxf4 26.Qg6 Kg8 27.Qh7+ Kf7 28.Rxf4+.

hey man, Great game! Nice Queen exchange. Don't mind the other ones who say this was a 'blunder' game etc etc. They've been at the same spot, but they wouldn't dare to give their queen away. Well done, keep it up.

    intersting game....

and the piece you kept referring to as the "horse" in your notes is actually called a "Knight"..... just some FYI.......

I'm sorry, I know you wanna be supportive and everything, but from an strictly analitical viewpoint the game was not won because of the "positional sacrifice" he made, but rather because of his opponent blundering, specially with 25. Qg6?? .

Now I'm not sure the sacrifice was wrong at that time, but the fact is that after 18... Bxd7 white stands better. I agree that 17... Qd8 wouldn't be much better for black, but the reason for this terrible situation that black is facing is the previous mistake 15. exd4? .

I just think this is more realistic than making believe it was a "game-winning sacrifice" .
