Yup, definitely a zugzwang. Any king move except for Kf7 loses black's f6 pawn. Kf7 allows the move Qh7+ which forks the king and h pawn. Black's g pawn is pinned to the h pawn. If h5 then white takes the h pawn with the g pawn, black takes back, and Qg5+ forks the king and pawn. It is impossible for black to avoid the loss of a pawn, but if black did not move his position would be better. Here is a possible outcome. And congratulations on the game.Smile

Looks like it - any pawn move loses at least a pawn, and any king move loses material as well. Even Kf7 loses, where White proceeds Qh7+ 3. K anywhere Qxh5.

But if black could pass his turn he would still lose.  So I would say it is not.

No. The diagram says that it is White to move, and White has many good moves, including some that put Black in Zugzwang.

I dont think this is Zugzwang, because White wins everytime!

It would be Zugzwang, if Black has to move and only then he will get in a losing position, here his position is already lost...

    Just my two cents

PS: Nice that all say Zugzwang, a german word^^

It technically is but it technically doesn't matter because white has easily won.

What does Zugzwang mean in English?  I have heard the term before, but I don't understand?  Thanks in advance.

A player is considered to be in "zugzwang" when any legal move they make will weaken their position, but if they could skip their turn they would have an equal or better position than before.
