before next weekend :)
This Site will soon have 6 Million Members !!!
I think the # of members updates only a couple times per day. Next update may be > 6M!! And although they are mostly inactive members, its still a sign of growth and thats great. I think it'll grow much bigger, theres still Asia, Middle East, South America and Afrika. They have a huge audience too. Would be nice if they start spreading the word on chess.
When I posted the nrs there where 2783 people needed. Yesterday ~200 people joined/hour. If people join in the same rate today, in 13h54m there will be 6M. So thats about 9:00am GMT+0.
Thanks for all of the new posts.
Yes the 6 million target is very close ! Of course not all of the accounts are active all the time which is probably a good thing or else the server-system might get overloaded.
They have a long way to go before they have to worry about running out of usernames even if we assume no reuse.
70 million or so if I'm using the right formula.
Depends on how long the usernames are, doesn't it?

as far as I know usernames have to be 3-20 characters long. Also the usernames "chess", "king", "rook", "bishop", "knight", "queen" and "pawn" are not allowed.
Capital and lowercase letters are considered equivalent, so therefore there are 38 possible characters (A-Z, 0-9, -, _)
this makes (38^20 + 38^19 + 38^18 + ... + 38^3)-7
I will calculate this and edit it in
Edit: I make that 40,481,239,792,225,648,784,462,962,744,961 possible usernames
"Also the usernames "chess", "king", "rook", "bishop", "knight", "queen" and "pawn" are not allowed."
Then we're down to 69,999,993 ?? It's looking bleak!
I'm playing someone with both king and knight in their username, therefore piphilologist's 40 gazillions trillion billion shit load number may well be right. Don't think it's anything to worry about. :0)

Love maths but ain't very good at it.
Thank you for Explaining; I like it when someone explains something to me where he ( and especially a ' she ' ) is better than me at.
I am submissive.
Before year-end, I hope! That would be a fantastic milestone for such a great site!
Best,
