Hey, that does not exclude the possibility of having pawns ready to promote, the first one putting the opponent into check, and a subsequent one forcing mate.

Edit:  I was referring to Eddie Sox' post, which at the time I wrote this was the last one, but apparently two others beat me to the punch in the interim.  I must type too slowly.

What's the best opening?

My opponent is taking too long to move/playing too many games.

Vacation should be disallowed.

Too many popup ads!

Why can non-paying members only get 3 tactics trainer problems/1 tournament/etc.?

Tournament abuse, particularly via vacations.

Unfairness of ads for nonpaying members/elitism of paying members.

In fairness, there are many, many books written about the same subject.  Why not multiple forums addressing the same issue?  It would be nice, however, if the later ones could refer back to the earlier ones.  I have to wonder if there is some way to have this automated.  As in, if I did not know that there were other forums about, say, cheating, and posted one as if it were the first time, then could it be automatically linked to the prior ones?  Some search on key words perhaps?

I'm impressed you went ahead and posted this, braving the inevitable arrival  of the

"starting pointless threads complaining about the message boards" response.

Yes, I admit it, I often take the contrary position just to play devil's advocate.  In this case, I agree that there are too many of the same forums, but I am not sure how bad that really is.  A contrary position forces the other side to refine the argument.  Simply saying "yeah, me too" has no such tangible benefit.

In the real world people usually have even more banal questions, such as standing in front of a sign that already gives the answer and querying:

"Where is the restroom?"

One time while working in a beachfront concession stand at a popular South Jersey beach and in full view of beach with no obstructions whatsoever I had a grown person ask me:

"Which way to the beach?"

Most amazing to me is that in the 20+ year interval I still have not been able to come up with an adequate zinger for these ocassions that prevents them from re-occuring.  I am working in it, though.
