Tipping Point

All games are more or less decided either by a clear win or a draw at one stage of the game. This also happens when one player makes an obvious blunder or weak move they say. My question is for most players out there which part of the game do you feel your advantage or perhaps what we can call the " tipping point" is most achievable?

Is it in the opening? The middle game perhaps or always playing for the decisive ending your kind of experience? as far as my personal experience is concerned the tipping point almost always occur towards the onset of the end game. Is this the same for you guys?

I can't really find a logical reason why this is so for me. Perhaps it has to do with my playing stlye or attitude perhaps. However I feel most relaxed when the end game comes.

    Against opponents my own level:

    • A fair % of my wins come out of the opening, as does a small % of my losses.
    • Some wins out of the middle game, too many losses, mainly because I forget my opponent gets to play too.
    • I do better in endings than I should, drawing losses, and winning draws. But I do lose some here too.

I can't discern any pattern at all, although I do tend to win quicker against weaker opposition overall - who doesn't?  But many players with lower ratings can give me a good game, and make me win it in the ending.

At the other end of the spectrum, it's just as unpredictable.  I've won games against masters which were basically won in the opening, although far less frequently than with weaker players.  Every game is different - that's one of the great things about the game, anything can happen and often does.
