TOR Browser Usage

When will Chess.com accomadate use of the TOR Browser on their site. The site is accessible on many other platforms including, Android, iOS, Linux, etc. All other browsers are intergrated for use exept TOR

jposthuma

I don't think chess.com wants to support a browser like TOR that is often used for very negative things.

Nara_Shikamaru

@jposthuma, since when has privacy become negative?

Nara_Shikamaru

this post has been alive for the longest, and it seems like admin has taken the position of just ignoring it entirely. Would be nice to hear from someone from chess.com on this compatability issue with a now widely used browser.

EscherehcsE

Well, I doubt that the Tor browser really is widely used. Most people use the usual suspects like IE, Chrome, Firefox, etc. I'm about as paranoid as they come, and I don't even use it. Smile

Can i get an official comment or position from a "staff member". maybe snowden would like to play chess from a safe/secret location :)

The Tor browser is inherently a GOOD thing. However people do use it for bad stuff as well... you could say the same thing about knifes, which are a common murder weapon.

But OP... Tor is no longer secure. There is evidence that NSA has created many backdoor enterances into the sever and it seems like privacy on hte internet is truly dead. Revolution is the only way to stop this plutocracy good luck

i did read that recently as well.

Where? :P

@ MrXandbadas, I read on pando.com (which isnt completely objective because of past run ins with Tor staff, but seem to have a very thorough article with qoutes and links) that Tor is under attack by a hacker group  and that NSA is a current threat as well. I figure MAC Changer + VPN + Tor Browser should = online anonimity and privacy.

I use tor right now on chess.com, works nicely!

Thx Admins Cool

Are you using the browser bundle?  I can't log in through the browser bundle.  I can log in through Tor exit nodes using setting Chrome routed through a socks local host proxy running Tor.  Not ideal, but it does at least change my IP.

blaufuss

Exactly. Standard settings.
