I have a question about placings in tournaments - For the sake of argument, let's say there are 4 players in a Tourney - A, B, C, and D - The payouts are

1st Place - $20, 2nd place $10

A and B tie for first

C comes in next.

What place is person C? and what are the payouts?

I'm not sure how it's actually done, but I'd give A and B $15 each, as they really came in 1.5th each. Presumably that's also how it's done in fixed prize tournaments.

Well, C is third.  A and B split the first and second place money evenly

If they are using any tie breaks then the tie break would decide who is first with the 2 tied players and he would get 1st place money and the other tied played would get second. If no tiebreaks are used they usually split first and second place money evenly.

In tournaments, the person's standing is based on tiebreaks, but not the prize money.  It looks like you are referring to a quad, in which case they split the money
