Do tournament winners receive some recognition, a trophy or trinket to diplay on their 'My Home' page to show there friends?  Haven't seen any thing like that, just the trophys we send each other for a good game and such.  Any thoughts on that?

They dont display on our homepages no, would be nice if there was some way for them to display perhaps there or even in the "full stats" page.

Currently ye can only see them (the little trophies) on your http://www.chess.com/tournaments/myhome.html page and also in the completed home page of the tournaments in question.

page. In another thread I already recommended some enhancements (total tournaments finished, plus in the page you reference (myhome.html) I'd like to see some more stats on the tournaments which are displayed (my games remaining, total number of games remaining).

The trophies don't go into our trophy cases?  What's up with that?  So no one else can see a tournament trophy except the person who won it?  Is this true even with Custom Trophies?  I scoured the web for some cool Custom Trophies for my Dark Knight Tournament.  It would really suck if the winners couldn't show them off.  Maybe the trophy case should have a "3rd shelf":  Trophies for fun, Trophies for games, and Trophies for Tournaments.  I think ANYONE who wins ANY tournament would want that feather displayed prominently in their cap.

To the Chess.com staff:  You guys all rock!  You have the best site on the web!  I love that the site is always getting better and better, even when I think it can't get any better.  I have faith that you will like this idea as much all of us who have chimed in on it and make it a reality before too long.  Keep up the good work.

 

I just checked all 27 pages of Completed Tournaments and I didn't see any Custom Trophies.  All I saw was the standard Gold/Silver/Bronze Medals.  Has no one else used the Custom Trophy feature?  Or have none of those tournaments finished yet?  Is there truly no place to view these Custom Trophies either before or after winning them?  It seems kinda pointless to have that option if that's the case.  Even if it's not a Custom Trophy, if I won even a Bronze Medal, I would want it diplayed in my Trophy Case.

The Irish Social Open has custom trophies (nice pint of Guinness :) it started 3 months ago... but we are still waiting for one guys month long vacation to run out as he hasn't come back.. :s  It may not be over fer a good while yet, but when it is, fingers crossed, the custom trophies will display heh.

Wait - a custom trophy is different from the "medal" you get for winning the tournament. Isn't the custom trophy done by the TD (they create a trophy and manually give it to the winner)?

So you had to post them somewhere for anyone to see them as well.  It would be nice if they were at least displayed on the Tournament Homepage (kinda gives the players an incentive).  I can't wait for your tournament to end so I can see just how many places those glasses of Guiness are visible.  Hopefully by then they will have added the Tournament Shelf to the Trophy case and everyone will be able to see them.

As far as i understood it, when i created the custom trophies they replaced the default medals.. so i would hope to see the wee pints o Guinness instead of the gold, silver and bronze medals.. 

Yep i agree with ye Billium, would be cool if they were displayed somewhere. May encourage more people to use them then.

i would have thought they would automatically be displayed at the end of winning a tournament?

That's my understanding as well.  However, if the only place you can see them is where you currently see the little Gold/Silver/Bronze medals, the pictures will be so small that you may not be able to tell what they are.  Your Guiness glasses will be easier to identify when small, but my Dark Knight pictures will be little black squares.

I will be eagerly following The Irish Social Open and watching for those Guiness glasses.  Looks like you finally entered Round 2, but you've still got the 3rd round to go before anyone can see your Custom Trophies displayed wherever it is that they will be displayed by then.

Has no one else used the Custom Trophy feature when setting up their tournament?  There are 29 pages of current tournaments and 27 pages of completed tournaments.  I can't believe that Pistoleer and I are the only ones to check that box.

 

Ok, very interesting.  That is the 2nd time I've posted in this thread and it has NOT shown up on the "most recent posts" list on the right.  Maybe that's why no one else is answering: this thread is invisible.  I'm going to start a new thread in the Tournament section and see if anyone else has set up Custom Trophies.

I think that the staff may have set threads that are x days old (1 month maybe?) to not show up in the recent posts section..?

On one hand it makes sense not to enable ressurecting of very old threads, on the other hand, useful threads can die off easier..
