Who is this strange person sending me e-mails that i am late with my move or my game is over from chess.com?(tongue-in-cheek) The only turk i know is from final fantasy 7-the shin-ra agent. Although i have fond memories of that game,i would really not like to hear from this dangerous character! Please elucidate the raison de etre for using this name to represent chess.com in my e-mails!SmileTongue outLaughing

The Turk is a famous chess-playing automaton of the 18th century, which was actually a hoax, however.

"The Turk is a famous chess-playing automaton of the 18th century"

the turk was supposed to be an "automatic machine", and since the turk sends out email automatically, we use that :)
