Unable to join tournaments because of badly hit timeout ratios!! :(

Hi friends,

I am in a very queer situation. When I started playing actively in chess.com (from around Feb 1st, 2009), my time/move was hovering at 1 hr/move and my timeout ratio was less than 2-3% till mid april and by that time I had played about 100 odd games, all of which should give a fair idea of how active I was here. On 14-04-2009, I was playing simulataneously in about 15 odd games when due to unavoidable circumstances I had to travel consecutively for 3 days and by sheer bad luck, I couldnt land my hand on an internet connection even once!. Since I couldnt even login to change my status to "vacation" mode (not that I forgot, but I really couldnt log in once to do that :() before I left on my errand, I lost all my games I was engaged at that time dropping myself from 1977 rating to 1771!!

Now before someone starts wondering why I am pouring my sad story here after a month since that incident, I will tell the reason. Bcoz of the above incident, my timeout ratio got hit really bad and went down to 32% :(. Hence bcoz of this, I am not getting access to almost any of the tournaments and to bring the timeout ratio to 10% (which is needed by the tournaments) from my current ratio of 24%, I have to play atleast another 200+ games which will take me atleast 6 months from now :(.

Admin/staff/anyone, can u plz tell me is there a way out of this? I am not making here an excuse bcoz whatever the situation was, it was my mistake not to have utilised my vacation option at that time though I could not really do anything about it.

All I am asking, is there an option to "excuse" players who had their timeout ratios badly hit bcoz of defaulting on a single day?

Also, is there any way for the tournament starters to consider "special" cases (if at all mine is a special case) and permit them to join the tournament?

Thanks and Regards,

Arun

Hi Arun,

I think you have a legitament issue.  You should send an email/issue directly to the chess.com staff.

Watch your backrank.

I'm sure the staff can do something about this.
