What happens to hidden underlying rating of New members commencing rated games while  flagged as  'Unrated', when 'Newby' lets time run out, deliberately or otherwise ; and how  does it affect ruling on minimum number of qualifying games ?

The (unrated) that appears by their username is only there if they haven't played any games yet, or if they have played more unrated than rated games. So in a game with 10 moves for example, if they lose on time it will still affect their ratings (in a rated game)

Thank you , kohai. My newby  however had played only one move in my game, timed out after my second move and has since offered no comment. I am wondering if he gained or lost anything by his action.

No, his rating wasn't affected.  On a timeout, ratings aren't affected till 4 moves.

So net result would presumably be one of the necessary qualifying games  accomplished, after a fashion, since I scored a "win", he would a painless" loss" Thanks again kohai. Best Regards ,Donaldxqsme.
