On second thought, the Vicar is not leastest. The Lord has been most generous in providing for her, imho..

Meanwhile....back at the ranch....

Waiting  for my turn ,in a longish list of 46 games in situ, I  was 2nd" ready game" but 13th in line and really tired of checking progress if any when I noticed one  game had  apparently jumped the q and played 2wice to my 1once!

Explanation soon evident - he was on 1 move a day; I  on one move 3 days and possibly others had I  pursued matter on 7 or even 14 day moves. Very off- putting  it has to be said and may well affect future acceptance of challenges

Who can decypher what Donald is talking about?

Not his own list of games: he has only 8 in progress.

So: is he looking at the games list of one of his opponents? That opponent may have 46 games in progress. Games are ordered by least time remaining - except that all games where it is your move are listed first.

"I was 2nd 'ready game' but 13th in line". ?????

Well there was only 1 "ready game "ahead of me the others listed in front  of me were " waiting games" -As already postulated  it could save time and improve  playing enjoyment if  the ready games were dealt with first instead of merely following listed order.Hope that clarifies( arts' own diagram does it rather better in earlier post).

Perhaps i should clarify that i am referring to voluntary choice of  order not the computer listed orders and figures I quoted  by way of illustration  are actually bit different on re-examination but no different in principle.Really a matter of  desirable etiquette  it seems to me .

Ah. I think sometimes players manipulate their order of play for strategic reasons, such as to influence their rating outcome. For eg in a game where they're losing, they'd rather lose fast to a lower-rated opponent and then recover their points in a game where they're winning against a higher rated opponent. If they do it the other way round, that is, complete their win against the higher rated opponent in the waiting list and then lose against the lower-rated opponent, it could mean a massive point loss for them. I think. I can't explain it better, perhaps you-know-who can diagrammate lol ..

(Edit: no judgment intended - if a person wants to improve his/her rating, this is only logical. I'd probably do the same)

Good point- it gets subtler by each post- so  long as  shots are called correctly. But am already decided long listers should normally be avoided on enjoyment grounds

I play the games that are "on-line" first.

So you are not proposing that the games list be re-ordered, as discussed here:

One risk with showing onlines first -

The times go out of order.

If you've more than ten such games

They hide across the border.

An urgent game awaits your move,

It's buried on page two.

Your timeout ratio doesn't improve

You end up in a stew.

The moral of this tale is clear:

Consequences mind.

Or lose a bunch a games on time

'Cause they were hard to find.

A second caution I would add:

"Be careful what you wished!"

So called 'improvements' drive you mad

"Bring back the old games list!"

Well my original posting was intended to request that players, not site planners, could help simply by choosing  to play first those games indicated as  currently" live and ready" by the Flashing Beacon Symbols. No site reorganisation was envisaged, merely the suggestion that it might be regarded as good chess etiquette to follow, similarly to reasonably  appropriate retiring practice.

Silent Letter

No 'I's in Teja

No tears in her eyes.

Why’s no ‘Y’s wise?

Eyes knows - Noes, Ayes.

Her tresses stressed

Her 'Que?'s lie sent.

lol! You are quite wrong Mr Artfizz. I do have tears in my eyes. Of agony over this execrable poem of yours..

In my name lies no silent letter, your poem is quite wrong about the matter,

Teja is said as it is spelled, just roll it out your throat and "Teja!" is belled.

I was just about to consider reaching for my lawyer - as in other threads e.g. http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/did-she-mention-my-name

Don't do that artfizz. I didn't mention thy name in vain as the Lord likes to admonish us, but in pain. I followed that link - that was a good laugh. However, considering you're getting more mention on chess.com than the Lord's Prayer in a Protestant church, your lawyer is going to be one hombre rolling in the lucre.

Hmm perhaps I'll say something nice about you when I've wound down some of my chess games and have time for new ones. I'll be hard put to it to do so, but I'll try my best Smile.
