I'm down for 10 and have 5 so far.  When we have enough greeters, it might be a good idea if newbies are allocated to greeters who are currently online, so that we can welcome them in person.  Everyone I have so far has not been online when I have been, so it's harder to make the welcome more personal (beyond the pre-typed greeting that is automatically given).

I had a three, two last night, and one this morning, the one this morning must have been coffee high, because he was moving faster than the board could change completely. Laughing

One of the people I'm greeting won't play. He asked me about live chess.

It's entirely possible that some people aren't here for the correspondance chess feature, but only the live chess feature. At which point, aren't we setting these people up to losing a game if they don't know how to "cancel a game?"

It's also possible some registrants don't want to be "greeted." Maybe they're only here for the forums to discuss chess? So, I guess my question is...is the greeting feature optional for newbies? Or are they forced into a game against their will?

Count your luck, kohai.  Wal-Mart vests(anything Wal-Mart, actually) looks like pure, unadulterated evil.

Hmmm...

Perhaps unadulterated was the wrong word.  The evil that is Wal-Mart is slightly less potent than Rupert Murdoch.

Wal-Mart , Evil? That's blasphemy. I would be careful about what you say about Wal-Mart. They have spies everywhere...

Only one of the people I am playing is actually playing. He's now on my friend list, so I would suppose that is a success.

would it be possible to have a new alert section for these games? At the moment alerts are split tournament and ordinary games.

with a separate alert section we would have the option of giving a little extra tlc more quickly if we so wished.

regards PG
