Just wanted to know if anyone else has run into this mess.Kinda sucks when I start off playing a player rated at 1500 or 1600 ,then because they decided to lose down to 1100 or 1200 I get like 2 points or something rediculous like that.A person ought to get points based upon the ranking at the start of the game,I mean its not my fault they let time run out on 20 games or so is it?Its really bad when I play about 25 games and win 20 of them ,then I only win like 20 points, that sucks!Just saying that if a player is ranked at 1500 at the start of the game then the value should be based upon what the ranking is at the start, that way people do not take  a month to play because of ranking changes and so forth!

I know what yer saying :) and in the case of someone loosing games due to timeouts for example would be annoying but.. it works both ways - ye could be playing someone with a rating of 1400 and in the course of a 1 week game with them they may rise in rating by hundreds due to other game wins, especially if they are new to the site. If ye beat them, surely ye would want their more true rating to apply.. ie ye beat a 1800 rating say, not a 1400.. I would suggest more people play with the aim of winning than loosing ;p

I suggest you not worry about your rating so much.

You mean "ridiculous", right?

JUST KIDDING!

I have "nitpickers" second on my list of things I don't like about chess (the first is bad sports).
