Idea taken from some remarks at the Knight Replacement thread.
What are your ideas for a themed chess set? You know them - all these United States Civil War themed sets, Richard vs. Saladin ones, etc. For examples:
In a Commies vs. Capitalists set, Marx should be the Commie king. Adam Smith should be the Capitalist one. Lenin should be the Commie Ferz (male version of a Queen), while Reagan should be the Capitalist one. (Yeah, I know that that bit about Reagan was kinda stupid)
Themed sets are nice, but it's kind of hard to tell what pieces are which. For example, there was a Star Wars set that had the "bishops" as two different characters. It really gets confusing, so I'd rather play with a normal set.
McCain vs Obama would probably work quite well, but you'd probably notice a lot of Sarah Palin sacs.
Love it ihitdrums. Can we throw toast at the players?

"McCain vs Obama would probably work quite well, but you'd probably notice a lot of Sarah Palin sacs."
Elaboration. The Dems vs. Reps set sounds like fun.
(The Obama side, should, naturally, be black).
Black:
King - Barack Obama
Queen - HIlary Clinton (despite all the political conflicts, he did appoint her an SoS)
Bishops - Joe Biden and Oprah Winfrey
Any ideas for the Knights?
Rooks should be represented as large Donkeys.
White:
King: John McCain
Queen: Sarah Palin
Bishops and Knights - any ideas? Since I've included Oprah, perhaps conservative talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh should be included.
Rooks should be, naturally, a pair of formidable-looking Elephants.
Bishops - Joe Biden and Oprah Whitey
Pawns should be in the shapes and with names of supporting states eg California, New York for Dems, Texas and Alaska for Repubs. Otherwise all fine, except replace Oprah with Jessie Jackson.
Geeks vs. Jocks. End of story.
