What color chess squares do you prefer?

Just out of random curiosity, what color chess squares do you prefer? I, myself, prefer the green and white ones; I find it easier to calculate. I used to like the black and white ones, but they ended up being too messy with the black and white pieces on the black and white board. What's your favorite square color?

Well, you cant beat a nice wooden board, but if not, I like green or blue for the dark squares.

I had blue marble previously...and recently changed to metal...soft on the eyes.

I like the green and buff/off-white squares on a vinyl board for their ease on the eyes.  Natural wooden boards are fine, too - especially maple & walnut.

lol -- I thought you were making fun of the bishop vs knight questions by asking if we prefered the light or dark squares Laughing

I had metal for a long time.  Currently using...lemme see.  Green and very pale green. It's called Wood Olive.  My rating is lower than ever...maybe it's time to change the board again?

I'm seeing a lot of blue-and-white vinyl boards in photos on the Internet, especially in scholastic settings, but I think I even saw a few at Corus.  What's up with that?

I personally like either green-and-white or black-and-white mousepad boards; you know, the ones that are like a mousepad underneath.  They don't slide around on the table and roll out a lot flatter than vinyl boards.

I also would like to get a brown-and-white mousepad board, but I haven't been able to find one.

Lol, I read the title and thought you were asking if we prefer light or dark squares xD. On here, I use the wood board. I don't have a good rollout OTB board at the moment, but I might go for red/white. Nice warm color, easy on the eyes.

Eo___, lol, I like the idea of a stealth black pawn..out of nowhere, the darksquared bishop gets taken, and nothing is there!!!

I use light grey and white.  Previously I used blue and white, but I like the look of the light grey.

I find that the Wood-Olive board is easiest on the eyes.

Green and off-white (not bright). I prefer my wood board, my leather board, and my vinyl board that has colors close to the leather (white squares are a light brown; and dark green).

These boards look best with wooden pieces.

With plastic pieces, other boards look better. I like my black and white vinyl roll up because I designed it as a commemorative board for an event I ran. I also like my green and buff vinyl that has no notation along the edges. It has larger squares that better fit my plastic set with the 4" king.

Green/Blue looks awkward to me. I prefer reddish-brown (like this board http://www.wholesalechess.com/images/products/0529P_1L.jpg ) but not with the bright white plastic pieces.
