Wow, yep William Hurt works great as older Bobby.

Some of these suggestions actually do fit the older Fischer, but I still haven't seen any that would fit the young Fischer. Maybe the producers just have to pick some heretofore unknown kid and hope he shines. It's happened before. Although these days it seems to happen more to female actors.

So I recently heard that David Fincher, the director of Fight Club and Zodiac to name a few, is going to direct this new movie called Pawn Sacifice about Bobby Fischer and his life leading up to the Spassky mach....
It all sounds cool until I heard Tobey Maguire might be casted as Fischer (he is producing it). Although nothing is official yet, and I don't know about you guys but I really don't want Maguire to be Fischer. I just cant picture that little guy playing him. What do you guys think?
Here's an article on it: http://www.cinematical.com/2010/03/15/david-fincher-in-talks-for-pawn-sacrifice/
would like to see Kenneth Branagh as Fischer. More likely they would cast Kevin Costner or Kneau Reeves; the acting would be horrible but the box office receipts would set records

I'm not worried about Tobey playing Bobby, but I am worried about him playing Nick in Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby.
Did Bobby ever use the phrase, "Whoa!" ?

Or fired his gun up in the air while shouting "Aaargh!"?

Willem Dafoe would be the best young and older Fischer.

Docter Spock is also quite tall and his race does not age. The ears can probably be mended.

I'm glad I could bring this thread back to life after two years!
Yeah, good show. I would have thought hollywood would have contacted us by now to get more advise on the other characters also. Who do we need more besides Fischer himself?
Trim his hair, put on a suit and tie, and here's your man.

I still think Tobey Maguire as spiderman LOL.
This movie of Maguire will be interesting.
