as black?
you should definetly move a peice before time runs out.
is this a ongoing game? if it is, its against the rules to post it.
no, it's not.
oh, then i would suggest "e4"
challenge white for control of the open file Rac8
How about this position? My question here is should I play f4 or c4 (after a few developing moves first) or develop my knights in front of the pawns. Even at 1600 level I'm confused because there are some systems like the austrian attack where you do it but it's so hard to break through. So should I focus on rapid development to take advantage of my center or do I push my flank pawns to control more of the center, and can someone give me some general principles about this idea?
Try to maintain the center, you have it now, don't give it away. (at least, not so easily until necessary). I would move Nf3 now.
I would play c4 so my knight could get to c3. Any move is good, even h3 based on black's weird development, but i personally like to get as many pawns up so i can break through with a pawn storm eventually.
The only thing left for you to do is to try and open up the center. (the first guy) Move e4 as that is your one advantage...double up your rooks then concentrate on getting the king
I like to do this kind of thing also, but since it's an open game I was wondering if for example I should develop my bishop to c4 and knight to c3 and just ignore the c pawn to get immediate attacking chances.
I would play f4, Nf3, Bd3, 0-0 making things difficult for black.
