@Twobit are you joking, how could you possibly be serious in saying carlsen's iq is 180-190? if kasparov's iq is 190 then carlsen's iq has to be above 210 ATLEAST. he smoked kasparov with ease when he was like frickin 5 years old.

IQ and chess skill are not related.

Also, his story about Carlsen beating him with ease at 5 is entirely fictional.

    Yeah,lol.I noticed it just now.

Do amazing memorization skills and calculation skills indicate high intelligence ? The last time I considered this, I came to the conclusion that they generally point to high intellect. I haven't met any morons, who have minds like a steel trap or who could consider a myriad of details in conjunction, especially abstractly. I think that the only way to administer adequate IQ testing to begin with, is to find the most intelligent people and have them consider the proper criteria to create the tests, otherwise, I find brilliant people have to think the way idiots do who create the tests and pick the answers for questions they see better alternatives for. It is a common strategy of those who test others, to use inferior logic, to try tricking them. I find from personal experience, tests can be in such a way that the answers can be a matter of perspective. The test creator doesn't dictate what the truth is simply because, they are creating a test. Yet,I have found that they leave no provision for more profound thinking or alternate correct answers. If they reason a more intelligent response is based upon something in their opinion, it might not be shared with someone else.

    The irony.

    How is that irony?

I guess it's because he plays an intellectal game at top level and fails with the easiest things.

While that's true, I'm guessing goldendog was referring to Yereslov not making much sense.

Aye that was my other thought.

So, you can find it on the net:

    Garry Kasparov: 190

    Bobby Fischer: 167

    Judith Polgar: 170

    Robert Byrne: 170

But Carlsen, should we guess, would be around 180-190

so if that is true we can savely say that iq doesnt mean anything. what iq after that logic would Jesse Livermore have 120???

i mean Kasparov is smart no doubt but why should he be smarter then Fischer, but even if we would accept it. Why would Judith and Robert Byrne be smarter then Fischer... that is the greatest bull i ever read in my entire life.

i think Fischer had the greatest intelligence by far and then maybe Kasparov and then Carslen.

I would say an IQ above that of your average potato is required to pass comment.

Well, just because its on the net doesn't mean it's always true. Where did you get these statistics.

    Those IQ scores are "projected."

They are not verified. Just random guesses from "top men."

being a chess genious often comes at the cost of being somewhat disabled in the real life beside the the game. Just look at some of the former world champs like Fischer.

LOL, so suddenly we should award people titles based on their relatively strength, rather than the absolute one?
