I'm kinda partial to this one:
Or how about this?:
Did they happen in real games ?
i really like any kind of smothered mate
I like the second one
I like the second one very much. I like mates which are preceded by a quiet move, like this mate in 2 with white to move.
lol...no, the first one is based upon a problem (from an earlier post of mine); the second one I made up myself.
And I've always loved this one too:
I very much like the first one (with two knights, a bishop, and a pawn). I'm partial to ones with few pieces on the board, but that one is really pretty.
What's the prettiest mate?
(Sorry - couldn't resist ):
Seriously, a mate administered by a pawn move would be my favorite.
You may like this pawn mate then -- also the fantastic attack leading up to it. That's right... he sacrificed all his minor pieces...
That is history.
This one is not really pawn mate, but pay attention on a2 pawn.
This is my prettiest
By the way it should say black to move but I cant seem to change this in the editor?
My vote for the most cheeky ...
Update : Acknowledging that it is not mate YET (Black can play Nf3 to delay it)
WOW I love checkmates via castling
tonydal and I clearly share aesthetical tastes; I like all his the most.
