I just read a forum topic "Why do you play chess?", and thought - "WHERE do you play chess?"

To kick it off, I play at a bar with a chess set and a few regular playes in Shanghai called "Time Passage". If you are in Shanghai, look it up, ask for Luo Guan Zhong, and we can play...

When I lived in Paris I used to play at a bar on left (I think) bank of the Seine, close to Shakespeare book shop. I forget its name - just called it the chess pub. If you or anyone knows the name, would appreciate your passing it on...

Where do I not play?  On a good day at lunch with one of several old friends.  One weeknight for a couple of hours with some different friends.  Occasionally against a computer.  And oh ya, here too.

I play on weekend mornings at the cafe on the corner just two doors from my house. Sometimes during the week I have a friend over in the evening for an extremely serious game.

It's really sad when I am playing people on chess.com who are in the same room as me. I wish we could get out a board and play a "real" game but then people would see us and report us to management.

I play:

1. On here every day.

2. Hasting's Chess Club, two weekends a month.

3. Away matches for Hastings Chess Club all over the South-East of England.

4. Occasional County matches for Sussex.

5. The British Correspondence Chess League every other year.

6. Quaterly forays into France, to play in local one-day quick-play events.

7. Once a year I play in a long play tournament (3-5 days).

Could probably handle a little more, but I have to leave time for my other interests.... poker, fishing, drinking and women! Smile

Yeah I also have to leave some time to electric guitar playing, singing, piano playing and composing for my band... and some "tae kwon do" training... all this things (chess included) take 10% of my time.... then I leave 20% for women.... and the 70% left to drink!!!! Sealed
