The Egg came First. As we all Know Dinosaurs were Reptile Species and Laid Eggs for reproduction. Obviously Hen is been evovled after Jurassic Era.

As the time Passed off,The evolution took place and slowly some of DNA changes occured inside species gradually. And when the DNA after so many changes, Became Entirely Unique,we termed them as a New specie.

 Its not a One day process of Evolution. :D

if u analyse from a different view point with out taking into account the scientific observations.... i think nature will not take the risk of incubating an egg to hatch out a chick (a potential hen or rooster :D)  out of it, so it must have engineered hen directly to entitle with the task of laying eggs and its incubation....:D After all Nature's habit is abrupt creation and subsequent delegation of tasks.. ;)
