I was talking with some friends of mine and they all said they like to face their knights either at the opponents king or to the border of the board. I personally like to face my knights inward at my own king. So just out of curiosity, what direction do you face them?

If you play blitz as much as I do, you will most likely not care about how they are positioned =). Whether they are facing forward, backwards, outwards, inwards, on the corner of the square, on the edge, on the direct center etc.

Well for those of us players that are OCD, like me, it might make a diff. In blitz I don't care but untimed or more then 5 min, I like to have them the way I want.

This topic has been discussed already. However the knights start, they are likely to face another way during the game. In places where people used descriptive notation, which was decades ago, there was one thing helpful about facing the knights towards the king. You could tell, if they were not turned a different way, which one was the KN (king's knight) and which one was the QN (queen's knight) if you wanted the the notation to show that. Of course, identifying the square the knight moved from was also possible, so that was not necessary.

Well excuse me, I searched for it and found nothing. Maybe it is good to repost a topic for members who are new that would like to participate.

By the time you've played a few thousand otb games you've probably picked up a few pecadillos about the initial set up. Maybe you like all your pieces centered real nice (I do), or your knights facing just so. Fischer angled his to the center of the board. I like mine to face each other along the first rank. Not infrequntly I have all the pieces set up and my opponent sits down and first thing he adjusts the knights' facing. True!
