OK, for my summer statistics class, I have to a binomial survey/question, aka a question with two outcomes. So my question is: Do you prefer playing as white or as black? Please, no "don't care" or any ambiguous replies, just pick which color you prefer. Need 30 people to reply... Thanks in advance.

I prefer to play White. White has an immediate advantage with the initiative in the opening of the game. With prudent play that initiative can be sustained throughout the game. Additionally, the percentage of wins as White is greater than that for Black.

I prefer white, because you get the first move and if white play's d4 and black play's d5 then you go Bg5 the Trompowsky attack.

White.

You do realize that at best your results can extrapolate to those who have a preference, right?  And the self-selected nature of the sample introduces the possibility for biases, too.  Is 30 the target sample size so that you can use the normal approximation to the binomial?

I dont mind the bias, since I just need results. Yea, I'm supposed to use normal approximation.
