Just got the following messages in a game:
xxxxxx: pls
xxxxxx: could you play faster?
xxxxxx: to finish this
This is on move 10 of a tournament game with 3 day moves... as of yet, no pieces have been captured, and we are both pretty even in development. The game just started yesterday, so it's not like I'm taking a full 3 days - my overall avg. time/move is under an hour! Why enter a 3 day move tourney if you really just want to play blitz???
</rant>
You may not agree, but he asked politely. You can politely disagree in my opinion
agreed. asking to play faster is not cool :)
I agree with you onosson .. My avg time/move is small to and even like that I get some people saying that, some times not so politely ..
Even taking the risk of being rude, the best to do is just to ignore ..
Best thing to do is to just take even longer! lol
Nah just kidding, what a rude thing to ask though - if someone asked me to move faster in an OTB game I would complain to the Arbiter and demand my clock has 2 minutes added.
Yes, you are right - at least he wasn't rude about it (that has happened to me before though). I did respond politely to him, in fact, but I just wonder why he was in such a hurry... there are 'fast move' tournaments, are there not?
You heard the man, Lol. But yeah it's so not excellent to ask someone to hurry up with they're moves, but then again playing to slow isn't great. I have been told to hurry up before I just let it slide, xD
I always get annoyed waiting for my opponent when they take over a day to make their move. I make sure to respond within atleast thirty minutes of when my opponent makes a move to keep the game going at a reasonable pace but it seems that some people dont share my enthusiasm. Of course I never tell anyone to move faster or anything, I simply bottle the resentment up inside and let it stew .
I woiuld play this much the same way I deal with tailgators when driving....slow down.
Wouldn't the quickest way for your opponent to finish the game be to just resign it? (In effect, if he's asking you to play quicker, he's asking you to play worse, so why not just up the ante and ask him to resign.)
If people want to move all the time all they need to do is play more games. Look at AWARDCHESS, he wants to have moves all the time, so he plays 500+ games..he gets his moves and others get to take their time. So fast players just need to play more games :)
3 days is 3 days , you can't ask anybody to play faster .
DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why are you posting this? Deal with your own CRAP!!!!
So funny and true, incisive as usual Loomis. I bet you're a poker player too!
</question> onosson, by any chance, do you or did you at one point edit wikipedia? I was wondering because the </> symbol is used there. <question/>
I'm assuming you meant at most 30 mins, since that fits.
From your Online Chess profile "Time/move: 1 hr 24 mins".
Everyone just calm down a minute, that’s part of chess. I attend a chess club and at this club we play what’s called coffee house chess where you are allowed to talk smack to the other player. It’s harmless banter. Take time to enjoy the game for what it is, a game, besides just ignore the rhetoric if it bothers you.
I suppose this is because they have nothing else to do but wait at the computer, waiting for your move. Those types of people should go for Live Chess or 1 day Online Chess.
well within 30 minutes of when I see it haha
Haven't you come across this before? How long have you been playing on the internet? The worst ones just say "move" without any further comment, that sure is annoying.
Actually, I haven't come across it much - but the first time I did it was just as you describe: move ... move ... moooooooove
I just ignored that guy.
