chess is one of few things in the world that appeals to all: intellectuals, maniacs, enthusiasts, clubbers, players, and the average fellow. It's something that's simple enough that your dad might teach it to you, yet complex enough that some people devote their entire life to writing about the validity of a single move in an opening.

Just to contextualise it, what may I ask have you devoted your life to?  I know that I have devoted mine to just getting by, but how have you devoted yours to the extent that other peoples devotions appear sad?

As recently suggested many times here--its sexy.  Was trying my best to abstain from that post and topic but since I can weigh in here what the hell.  Yes chess is sexy.  Nothing sexier than intelligence imho.

Basically CHESS is a hobby and serves as relaxation, but theres a system to it that makes it intruiging, our style of play could reflect our personalities-this is NOT scientifically proven just an idea. CHESS is also a way of exercising and seeing our mental powers as compared to the other individual/s or computer/s. We play war without having to kill somebody or destroy things, in that little piece of time we are the General, Emperor, King etc... its a fantasy world. It's Fantastic.

I love playing chess because it's all about thinking what your opponent next move is.  The best chess players know how to play both side of the board at any times.  In many ways, you are your opponent.
