"Jumpin' Jehosevat! I say I say boy..." Foghorn Leghorn was my old dad's all-time favourite!

    Back to  the topic...?
This may be a tad sophist but have youse ever considered that (by definition) half the world is below average intelligence?!

Perhaps sadder still is that half of the remaining don't make much of an effort to use their's.

you may think that people dont want to play chess because its mind bending but those people who dont play chess don't understand how serious it is is in a big tournament like the world open. People play bridge and poker as i do for fun. Tournaments of poker and bridge are much less intensly serious than chess

the games you mention are popular in the USA , so just a small portion of the world considers them popular , chess is played all over the world where smart people live . Sorry its not so popular in your country.

Ahem. Are you suggesting the United States is not smart? The past 100 years has proven you wrong... Silicon Valley is vertainly a good example of a place full of Smart People in the USA. Hey, you know what i like? Chicken. It starts with a C-h just like Chess.

What he means is that charts show that the US is rated rather low in the standings of success in school which is true. Many Americans are lazy but what I dont understand about his comment is that not only smart people play chess. I'm a slacker. Okay I get straight A's in school but thats an example of being lazy. But you see I'm only 12 years old with a rating of around 2000 uscf so lazy people can still play chess well. I wouldn't classify America as dumb but I would use the word lazy.

wow.... I am over whelmed at the brilliance that has decided that the school system and grades are a good test of intellect. I am wondering if any of those who think this is good comparison world wide, have they considered that like in other less fortunate countries, people in the US can get by without excessive or even what is considered standard education. This is due to abundant resources here and the intelligence of some resourceful US citizens.

My grandfather had a 5th grade education. He had a business that grossed 1/4 million in a year and couldn't read or write very well. Does the lack of a formal education dictate a lack of intelligence also? I quit high school with a year to go and had below average grades. I excelled at classes I enjoyed. I slept and got f's in the others. I couldn't stand patronizing students or boring teachers. I am glad I didn't waste an extra year of my life. I could expound on this much more, but if you don't get the point already, I doubt you want to.

I'd be more impressed if he'd netted 1/4 million annually rather than grossing it. You can gross billions and still have a negative net.
