    It seems to me that the hard computer only plays the scandinavian. As much as I enjoy playing against the Center-counter, it gets repetitive. why is this the case, and have other people experienced it?

    Just play against other humans instead.

    Computers just calculate what they think is the best move, and play it. Since it always does the same thing, that's what you get.

    Computers often have opening books, and they play a random move from it in known positions, but little chess partner doesn't have one.
