Win Streak

I think I have been on fire lately. In live chess, the record for me in the last 19 "non-bullet" games against people of similar rating has been 16-3. If you do not include any games i have played against my friend (since we talk alot and dont neccesarily concentrate), my record for all my last 16 games against similar skilled people (bullet, blitz and long) is 15-1. Infact (including all games) i have recently had a 9 win streak and a 13 (or is it 12) win streak. Does this mean I'm improving quickly? In the last month-ish my rating has increased (all types) by 120-ish. Just to let you know, im only about 1450. And i do not get coaching or n e thing. Its been a while since i last read an article.

You could have had a small epiphany, something just makes sense to you that didn't make sense before, and your chess skills took a jump.

Or you could be on a lucky run, and about to have a horrible losing streak... Either way, enjoy it! Laughing

Ratings go up and down all the time. This is how my live standard rating has been over the last 8 months.

Wow. lost 100 rating in half a month. and gain like 160 in ten days. i guess that graphing thing is for members only.

If you make a linear fit to that graph, though, it shows that you're definitely improving in the long run.

If you're scoring 84% then bottom line is you didn't play similarly rated people.

Also, if you're looking to improve, be sure to know the "real" count too.  Games where you were being outplayed then won on time or because of a gross blunder by the opponent don't count as a win :)

Saturate the media with reports that you're actually on a winning streak! People in the U.S. will believe it, and maybe you too!Laughing
