I would like to react on an article I have read by our friend on this website- fernadobtn - about an interview with Karpov in Cuba:
Q -Do you think that there should be sex diferences in tournaments?
Karpov - Yes, because man play better than woman. Besides, chess requiers a lot of concentration, and males have more resistence.
Q- So, you don't belive women can play in the same level as man?
Karpov - This will only hapen when they can run as fast as man. Some of them can play realy well, but I tell you, chess needs a lot of concentration.
Certainly I'm not a good chess player like Karpov, but what he said seems completely nonsens to me.
Women's ability to play chess on a higher level depends, in my opinon, for a great part on the cultural behavior of the group of mankind in wich they are born. In a lot of countries, they give boys mostly mechanical toys and girls puppets and kitchen toys concerning the role they have to play later on in their society (!) So, the results are of course what you can expect (catastrophical in my opinion !) : Men have (in general) better possibilities for abstract visualising items then women.
Finally, in my opinion, and there are examples enough: women are COMPLETELY equal on all fields as men ( sometimes much better !) and this is only cultural related if they aren't !!!
please don't start this again. If you want all of chess.com's opinion on this go to http://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/battle-of-sexes?page=1
It has the same qoutes as you put up here.

I agree! Cooking, cleaning, oh, and buying that stuff that smells good, what's it called again?
Nar, sorry, I couldn't resist. To redeem myself - I'll throw in, Mary Queen of Scots - she was as cool, as the cool side of the pillow.
