OK so this was in a tournament. Sheraton Hotel actually. I was playing a chess game and it was my move. It was the end game. We both had 2 rooks, our queen, and a couple of pawns on the board. I had a awesome move in mind, but I was tired and I made....the mistake...

I was going to move my rook to attack one of his pawns (actually I had a plan in mind) But instead of attacking the pawn I move my rook to where the queen could take it!!!! I was so freakin mad!! I could of been un-defeated. But no I was too dang lazy to get up from the table and wake myself up!!!! But afterwards I was ok. All the un-defeated peoples got defeated.

Even through I defeated the one that was in first place. And I should of gotten first but nupe I got in thrid place. I was ok with it. But I still think I should of gotten 1st. But 3rd place...not bad

P.S.

I would of given everybody more information but my memory isn't all that clear of what the board was and what color I was playing or what time...or anything just that one huge blunder!!!!!!!!!

You hung a rook and you think that was the worst move ever?  You've led a sheltered life, my friend. :)

At least you're not a GM who overlooked a mate in one threat. Wink

I hear ya chessplayer110, one of my few losses here was from flat out hanging a rook to a horrible opponent.  I felt like breaking my monitor, and that game was essentially meaningless as it only affected my chess.com rating.  If I was in a real-life tournament I'd have been even more torn up about it.  I hope you at least had the decency to be a really poor sport about it, which is what I would have done.

[COMMENT DELETED]

Again, not too proud to admit I lost that game, but something about my post was wrecking the entire thread...so we'll send that one back to the archives.

Ouch dude that's painful.  And the worst part is you had to endure a lecture from the 7 year old afterwards. Tongue out

By the way is anyone having trouble viewing this thread through firefox after dimknight posted his game?

you shouldnt feel bad. ill give you a list of my blunders.

  • dropped my queen to a 1300 on chess.com
  • missed a tactic that my dad saw and then lost (and he isnt good at all)
  • dropped my queen in a rook up endgame
  • nearly lost to a 600
  • dropped a knight against a 1300

do you want me to go on?

If that's the worst move you've ever made, I'd say you're doing pretty well.
