If the player is six years old?
I'm playing a kid now whose home page says he was born in Nov. 2005.
The fact that the person is willing to play against a total stranger indicates potential. Regardless of talent, a willingness to match wits with a stranger indicates the combative spirit which all exceptional chess players share.
I'm wondering what the six year old is thinking.
It's hard to tell with just looking at the rating unless it's 2000+ and a young kid. I remember some years ago playing an up-and-coming Darwin Yang. I was defending as black with a stonewall formation, and after about ten minutes of thought, he came up with a tactical breakthrough that blew my mind. Later when I plugged the game into the computer, it took the computer several minutes to discover the same tactic. That's when I knew the kid was eventually going to be a GM.
"WTH is the Conflagration_Planet is on about ?!"
But was the kid just six?
I think most "six year olds" here have a five-o'clock shadow and are smoking a stogie.
Now many games has this 6 year old played to have arrived at their rating? What ratings has he played against?
I know some 60+ year olds around here who would love to break 1200. The kid is a prodigy, by their standards.
At the time he was very young, but probably not six. More like around 9 or 10 at the time. He's 15 now and over 2500+ in rating.
Ive been playing 6 months amd i have a rating of 1365 standard and 1471 turnbase. is that good? I'm 17 dont know of that factors
probably be ok to play in the club and club tournament level
I'd say that's pretty good.
I have 3 students, not sure of their exact ages, but as far as OTB ratings goes, one just finished 1st grade and is 1200, one just finished 2nd grade and is close to 1300, and one just finished 1st grade and is around 1050. At the club where I play, there are 2 1st graders above 1500 (Risisth and Balaji) and a girl who just finished kindergarten who is a 1400 (Agnes).
that is uscf rated, right ? that's pretty good for them.
When i was six years old i couldn't even remember my ABC's , the kid's a genius he is beating people on a chessboard !! LOL
Are you trying to make me feel bad about myself?
Maybe you'd feel better if you'd stop playing blitz until you first develop some skills.
