Well there is a tournament going on in Reno, NV soon and I plan on wiping the C class section and winning the $1,300. That is my short term goal, and I know I can do it as long as I check for blunders. If I don't win I hope to at least make 1550 in rating. By the end of the year I hope to be above 1600 at least, preferably more. I don't have any super long term goals for chess. Reaching expert level would be good enough for me.
