Catfish, if you are using firefox, you can get Adblock plus for free, just google it, it is a Mozilla application, and it gets rid of all ads, even banners.

Most of the ads are bearable for me, but I can understand why the "you are the 999,999th winner" ad is annoying for people.

the ads with the flashing "you are the winner" advert, as well as the what year did you graduate in- which drapes over the chessboard. when i first tried the internet in 1999, with all the free websites that were popular-and of course had ads, you could at least move your screen so you couldn't see them

You know.. I dont see ads here at chess.com or any other website for that matter and I havent paid for a subscription.. Sorry Erik for saying this but with firefox and adblock plus an add on to my broweser with alittle configuration or at least a subscription to a blocking plan I've been add free since january or so.. Which is about the time i started coming to this site.. People complain about ads but realize there are other ways to get around these problems in our day and age.. The Future is Now
