damlabsk's profile shows that he's been a member since March 22, 2008, and that he has started two games and finished none. Obviously a new member.

But look at his stats banner: "Highest: 1200 (4 Jul 2007)"

I suspect it's an initialization bug. Is July 4th 2007 the earliest date in the database, perchance?

This thread is not about what I thought this thread was about.

And I have so many good stories...

Here's what I thought he was going...  In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indy's friend Sallah saves Indy who's about to eat a poisoned date by catching it in mid-air and saying "bad dates."  I thought satisfice was going to use this scene as an analogy for being an expert at chess (like Indy is at archaeology), but that lessons can be learned (being saved) from non-experts.

I enjoy a freshly baked apple pie on a warm summer's eve.

The Grobe's avatar looks to me like it could be a bad date.

Jsbach, yes, the title is a reference to that. though not a meaningful reference. I just can never say the words "bad dates", for any reason, without immediately thinking of Raiders.
