How come I couldn't do this in one of my games? I wasn't in check and I wasn't puting myself into check by doing it. Don't think it's been the first time either that this has happened.  Anyone else got this problem?

Did you move your king beforehand? if so then you can't castle.  Which game is it, I will check it out because I am curious, but if you can't castle then there is a logical explanation for not being able to. If an enemy piece has a scope on the castling path, then you can't castle, that's probably what it is.

None of the pieces should have moved before and you also aren't allowed to move THROUGH a check ... perhaps this is a reason?!

You should post the game here so we can find the reason.
