What is chess 960? I registered for a 960 tornament but i dont know what it is.
chess960 or FischerRandomChess. Bobby Fischer created a variation of chess where all the pieces on both of the bottom ranks are randomized (white and black).
ADK
He didn't create it, he just edited the castling rules (which I'm not crazy about personally).
Yeah, but I still think he deserves the credit for it.
Well he deserves credit for popularizing it.
He did more than edit the castling rules (of shuffle chess). He also put restrictions on the placement of the pieces (which is where the 960 comes from).
is there anything different than the setting???????
Oh, yes!
When pieces at the back row are placed according to a random order, then you brain must kick in to figure out how to play the best position.

it is interesting to note that Alexandria Kosteniuk 25 years old, has won twice the 960 variation, she really understands chess positionning and moves in my opinion.
thanks
Yeah, so can regular chess of course but shuffle chess gets you into unique & potentially very tactical positions earlier.
