I'm trying to get Chessbase Reader to run on my Windows 7 x64, but somehow the software just refuses to run.
Nothing actually happens, but in my Task Manager it shows that my system is processing a CBReader.exe *32, which I believe is the Chessbase Reader program running in a 32bit mode.
This seriously baffles me. No error messages was shown when I installed the program. I've downloaded it from the official Chessbase website.
Anyone can shed some light on this issue? It's starting to bug me actually... Thanks in advance!
OK guys I've just found out the problem.
It seems that the UAC function messes with the programs. I've turned off my UAC and the program is finally up and running.
If any of you Windows 7 users faces the problem similar to mine, you guys can try to switch off your UAC at
Control Panel - User Accounts - Change User Account Control Settings
and then slide the slider down-most. Windows will prompt you to restart. (It will say something like "Windows need to restart to turn off UAC). Restart and try to run the program back.
Sorry for opening up this thread again...
but it seems that UAC just didn't do the trick. After few days ChessBase reader is starting to acting up again.
It just won't start. Just like in the first post.
Seriously, I'm getting annoyed by this.
You can try to use process explorer or some sysinternals tools to do some forensic on this.. :P
haha that's a sincere comment :) but in ours currency its higher indeed
