What do you think about a guy, with 320 total games, who is on an incredible winning streak for the last 2 weeks and has gained 400 rating pts in those 2 weeks?

On 12/8 he had a rating of 1440, and has since gone 37-2-0.  His current rating is well over 1800 and is crushing a player rated over 1800 he is currently playing.

In other words, after 280 games he was rated 1440, and then improved his play in a 2 week period to enable him to crush virtually everyone he plays.

I suspect computer assisted moves, but am not sure what, if anything, is to be done about it.

Hard to distinguish, on this basis alone, between cheating and actually improving from studying the game.

I would put $$$ on that bbracken. I've noticed that with a few

players on this site so far .

You just do not  improve that quickly without a chess

engine of some sort .

you seriously believe he turned his game around overnight?  Going from 1440 to winning 37 out of 39 games instantly?  This wasnt gradual improvement...this was overnight success.

Have you followed the proper procedure for reporting this cheating? They will look into it if you report it.

if the guy is using chess engines' help to win and show how good a player he is, whom is he deceiving? .....HIMSELF ofcourse. his competency remains where he started. let him live in his makebelieve world and fool himself.

i thought chess.com has means to compare his games with various engines and nail him / kick him out. but ofcourse he will surface with a new name.

I really dont know how it works...but I doubt they monitor all games for that. More than likely only on suspicion.

Well actually, bsankar, he is (rather more troublesomely) fooling the rest of us...those of us who don't particularly care to be playing a computer program under the guise of a human handle. I hope chess.com can indeed nail him (if cheating is in fact what is going on here); not sure I really believe it is possible in turn-based games, however.

at the end of the day chess.com want your money, so they,re not going to ban anyone, besides they could stop cheating tomorrow.

I have seen several players banned for cheating.  They can catch it and when they do the account is closed.
