I have had exactly the same problem today with Online chess. I had two hours remaining and I have desperately tried to connect with an Iphone...Because of maintenance I have lost this game (with 30 ELO points...). How is it possible that during a maintainance they keep the time going.... Is there a solution ?

But today, while playing a very interesting game against brechner123, I was disconnected during my turn due to a site maintenance. I tried to reconnect desperately as I had only 1 minute left and I was not sure what was going to happen. But I couldn't reconnect using the iPad app until several minutes later and after closing and opening the app again. Not sure if it was the wait or the closure/opening action that allowed me to reconnect.
Unfortunately, the game has ended and I was considered the loser although the game analysis shows that I had a decisive advantage (more than 7.6 pawns).
I lost 13 ELO points and it will take me a lot of games to recover them.
If there is a site maintenance, then the ongoing games should be suspended or cancelled but never considered finished and the results recorded on the player's rating.
