1. What is the point of going on vacation without pausing your games - why is that option there?

2a. it says that non-free members will be put on autovaction when short on time - does that mean non-free members can go on vacation even if it is their move?

2b. if so, are all their games paused or only the ones where they are short of time?

3.  Can free members go on vacation if it is their move in some game? Does this pause their game?

erik? But please anyone who knows please clerify - it will help a lot of ppl who have only recently started playing correspondence [ie "turn-based"] chess here

[as of now i am a free member]

[in the title it should be "clarification" but i can't change it now because i've already submitted post , so i am updating it with the current sentence.]

1. i don't know where this option is :) if you go on vacation, your games are paused.

2a. premium members can't opt to go on vacation if it is their move, but auto-vacation will kick in regardless of who's move.

2b. all games.

3. no - you can't put yourself on vacation if you have to move in any game.

i hope that helps!

thanks  erik! that clears up everything that matters!

I asked the 1st question because when you go to the "go on vacation"  you have to manually click on "pause all my games" - i see that that's a way of telling you what you are doing. But isnt the following misleading: [i tried it an hour ago to see what happens] - some chess.com-turn-based-newbie clicks "I am going on vacation" and forgets to click "pause all my games" - it doesnt give any warning - you have to go to the "my online chess" page to see that you are not in fact on vacation.

Bug?

:)

*I* will happily live with the - ahem - bug :)  - maybe faq in vacations should mention this until the - er.. bug - is fixed -

or hell - let it stay :) cute bug! - ppl have enough time to think in turn based - if they can't be bothered to check whether they are safely on vacation they are welcome to do it at their own peril [ditto for conditional moves triggerring reset of vaction state in certain cases - if you are going on vacation shift take your conditionals in the *notes* section or take the gamble...] :)

Actually premium members are allowed to go on vacation at any time, even when it IS their move in one of their games. :)
