getting out of a tournament

    time controls were changed by the t/d without notification, i am going on vacation and it would be difficult to get on line.

    Go to the tournament page look to the right for a "Withdraw" link.

    games have already started with the new time controls, i have not made any moves in any of them, if i withdraw as you say TadDude, will it change my rating?

    Yes. Resignations and withdrawals affect ratings with no minimum number of moves.

    You may have a case for having your rating reset since the TD changed the tournament conditions after you entered. See the contact link.

    All I can say is be careful, for those c.c rules and their admin people can sometimes seem quite draconian. I was obliged to withdraw from 2 tournaments,, one of them a set opening, before I had played any moves, but they still slugged me 580 pints and were quite impervious to my request for a bit of justice. I sometimes think there should be some sort of memvbers' tribunal that could cnsider cases like that: after all it's the members who put butter on their bread!

    I 100% agreed with Fantasto! I made a mistake to enter in 17th chess.com tourney; to be started from Dec 1.

    The TD also changed the conditions, 10 simultaneous games from the original five games,  without making an annnouncement.

    But no problem, if you have no active games you can withdraw without penalty.

    Thanks, I try to finish my active games before Dec 1. then withdraw and play again.

    If you have no active games in the tournament.

    You can withdraw from any tournament before it starts without penalty.
