I am in a tourney where 1st place gets a one year gold membership. If I win it will it be accredited to my account? I am a Platinum member.
Good Luck
Thanks, Henry. Two other Fast Tournaments members are in that tourney, dudley3008 and Innkeeper215. Dudley is the one who could really use it as he is not a premium member.
I would think that they would accredit 1 year of Gold Membership to your account once your Platinum Membership expires.

Karl,
I would suggest you message your Tournament director with this question. If he doesn't know, he can contact chess.com and get an answer. I think they would credit your account (or exend your current membership a period of months).
Sorry, I don't have the answer but Good luck in your tourney!

Thanks, crafty one I did ask the TD and this was his response:
I contacted the admins. This is how they replied to the query:
Hello ccarlet1. I believe if you purchase the winner a Gold membership gift and they are already a Gold member then it will go as an extension to their current Gold membership. However, if this does not work then you can always allow the winner to choose another member for you to send the Gold membership to as a gift.
So it sounds like you can extend a gold membership, but not a platinum?
That would make logical sense in this situation
haha why would logic have anything to do with it?
Hi Karl,
in response to your coment: Thanks, crafty one I did ask the TD...
I would redirect your question back to the TD asking them to consult up the chain to Eric (creator/owner of Chess.com). You can tell him I suggested that when a gold membership is offered as a prize for a tournament and you win, you should get a reward regardless of your current membership status.
Good luck
Best of luck Karl !!!
Great news! I won the prize and not only did they extend my membership they did it for a full year! So the prize ended up being worth more than just a one year gold membership.
I wouldn't want the credit, I'd want the Gold Star nestled in the Platinum Crown next to my name everywhere on the site.
That would be really cool and I would rather have that too. But I don't think the staff will do that. So I guess I will settle for a free year
